ESR 4: Özgür Umut Akgül

Biography: Özgür Umut Akgül received his B.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering and Electrical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (Turkey) and M.Sc in Computer Engineering from the same university, in 2011 and 2014, respectively. He graduated from B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with the third rank of honor in the faculty. He is currently a PhD student in Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria (DEIB) in Politecnico di Milano. He is also an early state researcher in ACT5G Marie Curie Project. His publications appeared in Elsevier Computer communications, Elsevier Nano Communication Networks Journal, IEEE International Black Sea Conference on Communications and Networking 2014 (IEEE BlackseaCOM 2014) and ACM International Conference on Nanoscale Computing and Communication 2014 (ACM NANOCOM 2014). His current research includes 5G Network Management, Infrastructure Sharing, Game Theory and Self-Organized Networks.

Research lines: Within ACT5G his research activities cover the definition and analysis of a context-aware resource market for short term infrastructure sharing with trading and pricing framework. Main researches are focused on the analysis of the cost and pricing models, short time scale negotiations between operators, long term strategies for both operators and infrastructure providers and their effects on resource sharing. In the early stages of the research, a novel dynamic pricing and negotiation framework will be proposed in order to enable resource sharing with high spectral efficiency. In the long term, the evolution of the market framework with the operators’ and infrastructure providers’ decisions and objectives in terms of capacity expansion and profitability will be analyzed.
